Esther Swim Robie, LCSW completed her MSW degree at UNC Chapel Hill in 2007.

Esther’s clinical expertise is complemented by previous studies in nutrition, anthropology, spiritual formation and psychology and by having lived abroad. This has given her a particular sensitivity to the necessity of a holistic approach:

  • addressing a variety of triggers and stresses, pressures from cultural constructs and the importance of belief systems;
  • connecting with questions about identity, belonging and meaning;
  • and recognizing the present impact of past trauma as well as future concerns.

Esther’s clinical approach includes these treatment modalities:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • trauma treatment with EMDR and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • and managing anger, stress and emotional dysregulation using DBT skills.

She works primarily with adults, individually and in groups, and has a particular passion for working with those going through life transitions and dealing with gender identity and sexual orientation issues.
